The Dry Creek Wateshed Project
Last July, Alison White, Taylor Pie, and John Wall contacted us, desiring to initiate an organization to protect the stream running by their homes. CFWA is delighted to assist this team in starting a new arm of CFWA, which we have dubbed the "Dry Creek Wateshed Project". Already, the group has held two well attended meetings in Liberty, TN. At these meetings, community members have learned about watershed protection measures from Pam Hoskins, their USDA District Conservationist and Rita Thompson, our TDEC Environmental Specialist. With supplies furnished through your contributions to CFWA, Alison and the team have recently completed a biological and chemical monitoring of Dry Creek. These results, and other information, will be posted on this page dedicated to the Project.
This seems to be a good model for our watershed association. If you and others in your area would like to start a local watershed group, focused on the issues which concern you most, just let us know. CFWA can furnish you information, contacts, and the resources of a 501(c)3 charitable organization to help you get to work quickly with projects dedicated to enjoying and protecting your local waters.
